Raspberry Pi Zero Weatherproof Camera

Have made several of these in different flavors. Basic recipe houses a Raspberry Pi Zero running MotionEyeOS in a Small Survivor Dry Box making it weatherproof.

Viewport for this one has it’s compass carved out and replaced with a 1″ optically clear piece of glass held in place by a 3D print and Plastic Bonder. The viewport can be anything clear that doesn’t distort the image however keeping it small seems to avoid heat/condensation issues.

12V power comes in thru a 5.5 x 2.1 mm Power Jack which is converted to 5V output for a Micro USB cable. 12-5 volts can be a hacked USB car adapter. This makes it easy to power from a common 12V wall wart or battery.

Tried lots of different Pi Camera enclosures before the current Dry Box. In addition to weatherproof they are locally available, hold up well after years in PNW weather, easy to modify and look similar to a game trail cameras. The box is a good size for heat dissipation and there is extra room for additional sensors or a USB power bank.
